Pepsi Refresh Project

I recently edited this short promo piece for Action Marketing Group as part of a pitch for Pepsi. The footage was all shot in Austin at SXSW. It’s a bit of a mish mash of disjointed b-roll and noisy interviews (the best sound bites I couldn’t use cuz Pepsi hadn’t cleared the rights for their presenter yet!) but, as always, the challenge is first to find the story, then second to magic the footage into a narrative arc. I’m particularly proud of the opening 30″. :)

The Other Half

This video is a trailer for the feature film I wrote, directed and co-produced along with my writing/directing partner, Richard Nockles. It stars Danny Dyer and Gillian Kearney, with Vinnie Jones in a brilliant supporting role as the evil football manager he always wanted to be. Released in the UK and around the world in the summer of 2006, then in the US in the fall of 2008, it has sold over 100,000 dvd’s in the UK alone, and has just been re-released there for the arrival of this summer’s World Cup. The film won the Audience Award for Best Film at the 2006 Porto International Film Festival. US residents can rent it on Netflix.

Rites of Passage

In the summer of 2009 I edited this multi-media promotional piece for Mindful Mama Magazine. The footage was cobbled together from different footage shot in a variety of formats…and not all by the same person. The awesome graphics are by Boulder-based graphic designer, Amy Hayes at the Origin Graphics workshop. I also edited dozens of interviews with midwives, doctors, nurses, doulas and other birth professionals on the Mindful Mama Website.

Create Your World

This is a fun promotional video I wrote, shot and edited for life coach, Martin Kettelhut’s personal website. It was a one man crew (me!) and Martin and I did three pieces in one day (see the others here and here). This was the first one we shot

Warriors For Peace

I love this multi-media piece I edited for Jon Orlando. For the past few years he’s been photographing and recording the stories of Iraq veterans who are speaking out against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. His photos are so powerful and coupled with the audio really make a statement for non-violence and honest statesmanship. You can see more of the photos at Jon’s website.

Embrace What Is

This is the final video in the trio of pieces I created for Martin Kettelhut. We shot this one at the end of a very long day but actually had a lot of fun doing it…and we got to eat the soup at the end!

Otixo Promo Video

Super fun promo I wrote, directed, produced and edited for a very cool start up cloud app called Otixo. We shot stills of objects then processed them through Poladroid app to create awesome digital polaroids. We printed these, cut and trimmed them and then shot these as stills to create stop gap animation.

Andy Collen of happytrails animation then created some fun animation to round it all off.

Oh yeah, and the doing the SFX was a blast!

Enjoy!

Colin and Renea: A Love Story

This is a wedding video I shot and edited for Colin and Renea Murphy. It was a two camera shoot and the other cameraman was my German friend Marcus Lucas who was in Boulder at the time editing his feature documentary “State Dinners“. The edit was a bit of a nightmare due to having two very different cameras and video codecs (EX1 and Marcus’s JVC) but I’m very proud of the results, and Colin and Renea were very happy with it too.

Amplifire

This is a short (about 3′) promo piece for Amplifire, an online educational tool from Knowledge Factor. The footage was shot on the Red Camera and transcoded to Apple Pro Res by the videographer, which is what I ended up editing in. It’s a neat little piece with a great backing track I found on Shockwave (how often does that happen!?!?!).
